“I wasn’t on a mission to save the team’s season. There is a bit of pressure, but that's normal when you're a professional cyclist and you play a leadership role. Last year, I finished the Tour and it made me stronger. Then I worked well this winter and I prepared well for this race.
In the end I was in a good position, I had the legs and I thought someone was going to go but when Stephen attacked I got a little bit blocked and I couldn't do anything. He may have accelerated a little early, but when you have the legs, you can go whenever you want. I could see that he was very strong today.”
